Moorgen Singapore: designer smart switches, dimmers and lighting

Moorgen is a premium smart home brand known for designer wall panels, rotary dimmers and smart lighting, and its Smart Switch Panel won a Red Dot product design award in 2019. In Singapore, The Smart Home supplies and installs the Moorgen range with its own in-house team, and you can see the panels in person at our Henderson Road showroom.

The Smart Home is an authorised Moorgen dealer and installer in Singapore, so you get genuine products, proper warranty support and a team trained on the system.

Who Moorgen suits

Moorgen sits in our Signature range, alongside Lutron and Vimar. It is a good fit if you:

  • want the switches on your walls to look like part of the interior design, not an afterthought;
  • are renovating a landed home, a large condo or a penthouse and want lighting scenes, curtains and air-conditioning in one place;
  • are working with an interior designer who cares about materials and finishes;
  • like the feel of a physical knob or button, but want it to run a whole scene rather than a single light.

If you want smart control on a tighter budget, our Value range (Akubela and EAE) is usually the better starting point.

What makes Moorgen different

Most smart switches look alike. Moorgen’s approach is to treat the wall panel as a design object. Its designer collections bring in names from architecture and interiors, and the range covers glass, metal and textured finishes rather than plain white plastic.

The design work behind the range came from Moorgen’s German studio, Moorgen Deutschland GmbH in Aichtal. According to the Red Dot listing, the award-winning Smart Switch Panel runs whole scenes from one press (a “sleep” scene can dim the lights, close the curtains and adjust the air-con together), has a light sensor so it is easy to find in the dark, and is modular, so switches, temperature control and sockets can sit in one matching frame.

On our projects, Moorgen panels run on KNX, the open wired standard used in high-end homes worldwide. That means they work alongside other KNX devices for lighting, curtains and air-con, and the system is not locked to a single brand.

The Moorgen range at The Smart Home

We currently list 41 Moorgen products. The main families are:

Designer wall panels and keypads

The heart of the range. Popular collections include the Zaha Hadid Landmark Series, Philippe Starck Rock’N Fire Series, Kengo Kuma Branch and Shadow, Yabu Pushelberg Modo Series and Chi Wing Lo Wall-Jewel. For a cleaner look, the Switzerland Series and Denmark Series are simple and understated.

Rotary dimmers

Knob-style controls for lighting scenes, such as the Milanese Tourbillon, Milanese Crystal, Milanese LCD and King Series. A turn dims the room; a press can switch to a different scene.

Touch screens

The LCD Italian Series and LCD Finnish Series give you a screen on the wall for lights, curtains and climate in one place.

Lighting, remotes, sensors and locks

Moorgen also makes smart lights (such as the Ma Yansong Sublime Series and smart pendant light), handheld dimming remotes like the M78 Tourbillon, smart sensors and smart door locks, so the whole home can share one look.

Finishes are hard to judge from a photo. Glass, brushed metal and textured surfaces all look different in real light, and the feel of a dimmer knob matters. Visit us at 203 Henderson Road #02-10, Singapore 159546, open Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm, to press the buttons and turn the knobs yourself. Every Moorgen collection on this page is on display, so you can compare them side by side.

What affects the cost of a Moorgen smart home

Moorgen is quoted per project rather than off the shelf, because the price depends on several things:

  • Which collection you choose. Designer collections and special finishes cost more than the simpler series.
  • How many panels and dimmers you need. One per room is very different from a full set in every room.
  • What the panels control. Lights only, or lights plus curtains, air-con and audio.
  • The control system and wiring. A new renovation is easier to wire than an occupied home.
  • Installation and programming. Setting up scenes takes time, and our in-house team does both.

The quickest way to a real number is to send us your floor plan on WhatsApp and tell us which rooms you want to control.

Moorgen FAQ

Is Moorgen a German brand?

Moorgen’s Design Studio, Moorgen Deutschland GmbH, is in Aichtal, Germany, and the Red Dot award lists the manufacturer in China. The range is designed with a European look and sold internationally.

Can I use Moorgen in an HDB flat or condo?

Yes, Moorgen panels can be used in most homes. The right setup depends on your wiring and whether you are renovating. There is also a wireless Moorgen option, depending on your budget. We will check your layout before quoting.

Can Moorgen control my curtains and air-con as well as lights?

Yes. Moorgen panels are designed to run scenes that cover lights, curtains and climate together, so long as those devices are connected to the same smart home system.

Do you install Moorgen yourselves?

Yes. The Smart Home has its own in-house installation team, so the same people who design your system also install and programme it.

Can I see Moorgen before I buy?

Yes. Book a visit to our showroom at Henderson Road, open Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm.

How is Moorgen different from Lutron?
